Welcome to Purple Rose Crafts. We’re so glad you’re here!

Here, members of Purple Rose Crafts are beginners learning to knit and/or crochet. You will learn how to make beautiful items to keep yourself and others warm. You will learn to make easy and fun items you’ll be gifting or selling very soon. My knit and crochet specialties are hats, scarves/cowls, dishcloths and blankets. I also enjoy making sweaters. Come along with me and learn how to make these cute and fun items for yourself or as gifts.

I have been knitting and crocheting for over 25 years in total, mostly crochet, but picked up knitting again over 10 years ago and I can say I love both. Its completely ok if you came for the beginner knitting tutorials and patterns and of course ok, if you only came for the crochet. I will provide both because I don’t want to limit my own creativity. I will do my best to continue to provide beginner level tutorials, however, providing a “first time making a particular item” tutorial will be available as well.

For example, I have a tutorial for how to make a beginner knit sweater tutorial and pattern, knit in the top down style, called raglan. I have made a bunch of sweaters and love this style. This tutorial is a beginner sweater pattern, but definitely needs some knitting experience to complete. Its also a larger project so can be daunting for beginners. My suggestion is if you are looking for beginner level patterns, try a dishcloth, scarf, or even a hat. I am also working on more blankets, market bags, hats and headbands.

I spent several months in 2014 making newborn baby hats for my local hospital, and still donate occasionally. I love letting Pinterest and Ravelry inspiration guide my designs, and colours. Comment on any post in the blog and let me know what you are using our tutorials for, and what else you’d like to see! I would also love to see what you make, and the best way to do this is on Instagram! Tag @purple.rose.crafts when you post things about what you made. I love seeing them.

I have also included a separate list of beginner tools and recommended yarns for getting started. See that list here.
